After a brief illness, Jituboh passed away at the age of 54.

According to sources, an autopsy is being performed to ascertain the precise cause of death.

When Jonathan was the governor of Bayelsa State, Jituboh was his ADC. He remained in that position when Jonathan was elected vice president and then president of Nigeria.

Jituboh resumed his normal police responsibilities following Jonathan’s defeat in the 2015 presidential election. He advanced through the ranks and was once given consideration for the Inspector General of Police post.

After serving as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in charge of the Department of Research and Planning and then the Department of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) at Force Headquarters, he left the Nigeria Police Force in 2023.

The Jituboh family and the people of Bayelsa have received condolences from the Zone 16 Police Command, which is based in Bayelsa State.

The death of Jituboh was characterised as a “deep loss” by AIG Adebola Hamzat in a statement issued by the Zonal Public Relations Officer, Emonena Gunn.

“He was enlisted into the Police Force on the 10th of June 1994 as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police. His contributions to the Nigeria Police Force, dedication to service, and integrity can never be forgotten,” the statement read.

The police emphasised Jituboh’s lasting legacy of dedication and professionalism, stating that his passing is a great loss to the Nigeria Police Force, the people of Bayelsa State, and the country at large in addition to his personal family.
