According to sources, a truck crashed into the car that the police officers and the detained suspect were riding in, causing the tragedy.
Three police officers and a female suspect were killed in an accident that occurred in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area, Ondo State, on Friday.
Before the incident, police officers from the state’s police command’s surveillance unit departed Akure, the state capital, to make an arrest in Ore; the victims’ identities were not yet known at the time of publication.

One of the informants, who wished to remain anonymous, disclosed that the victims died immediately.
According to one of the sources, who wished to remain anonymous, the victims passed away immediately, and one police officer was seriously hurt and taken to an unnamed hospital.
He claimed that the truck lost control while descending the Ore Bridge and collided with the police car in front of it.
“With the heavy noise emanating from the accident, everyone rushed to the scene, and on getting there we realised that the occupants were policemen. Three of them died on the spot, and one sustained injuries,”he said.
“The one that sustained injuries was rushed to the hospital. It was later that we had information that the lady that also died in the accident was a suspect who the police officers had come to arrest from Akure.”
Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the event and said the command would respond shortly.
Additionally, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) State Command emphasised that a report on the accident will be released shortly.
