Fulham have turned down an offer from Spanish club Atletico Madrid for Nigerian midfielder Alex Iwobi, according to reports.
As per Africa Foot, the La Liga side made a proposal worth $21.5 million for Iwobi earlier this week.
The team, managed by Diego Simeone, reportedly offered the player a four-year deal, including an annual salary of €7 million.
Although the 29-year-old was said to be interested in making a move to Spain, Fulham are not prepared to part ways with one of their top performers.
Atletico Madrid identified Iwobi as a potential replacement for Belgium winger Yannick Carrasco.
Iwobi had a standout campaign with Fulham last season, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists across 38 matches.
The dynamic midfielder also made history as the first Nigerian to feature in all 38 Premier League fixtures in two separate seasons.
He finished as the runner-up in Fulham’s Player of the Season vote, with fellow Nigerian international Calvin Bassey claiming the top spot.
