Liverpool are showing strong interest in acquiring Alexander Isak from Newcastle United and are prepared to break their transfer record for a second time this summer.

The Reds have already secured Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for £116 million.

In addition to Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong has also joined from Leverkusen, along with Milos Kerkez, a left-back from Bournemouth.

However, the Premier League champions are far from finished and are considering a high-profile bid for Isak.

To land the Swedish forward, Liverpool would need to offer a new British record fee, likely exceeding £125 million.

Negotiations with Newcastle are expected to begin if Liverpool receives positive signals.

Meanwhile, Newcastle remain firm in their stance that Isak is not available for transfer and are looking to upgrade his current £120,000 weekly wage.

Isak is currently training with the Newcastle squad at their camp in Austria.
