According to Marca, Manchester United stands to receive compensation from Benfica if Alvaro Carreras completes a transfer to Real Madrid during this summer’s transfer window.
Carreras made a permanent move from Man United to Benfica last year.
Real Madrid is reportedly preparing to finalize the signing of the young left-back once the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup concludes this weekend.
Negotiations between Madrid and Benfica are nearing completion for the 22-year-old defender.
Carreras was one of three players former Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti aimed to bring to the club before his exit at the end of last season.
Originally, Carreras joined Real Madrid’s youth academy at age 14, having arrived from Deportivo La Coruna.
In 2020, he transferred to Manchester United but did not feature in any senior matches for the club before leaving Old Trafford in 2024.
After an underwhelming loan stint at Granada, Carreras’ career gained momentum following his move from Man United to Benfica.
