A portion of the text message exchange between former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi and Napoli attacker Victor Osimhen has been made public.

This summer, Mikel Obi is attempting to persuade his countryman to go to Stamford Bridge.

Romelu Lukaku is the subject of negotiations between the Blues and Napoli over a trade.

However, because that didn’t work out, Osimhen and Lukaku are being dealt to by the two teams in separate transactions.

Mikel Obi has now discussed the likelihood of Osimhen joining Chelsea.

“I think it’s 60/40 in favour that Osimhen comes. I think so, he wants to come.

“I sent a few text messages here and there, told him that is a great club and city.

“He would like to follow in the foot steps of other Nigerians to play for Chelsea,” Mikel Obi said on beIN Sports.
