Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is close to finalizing a deal with Villarreal.

The 32-year-old became a free agent after his contract with Arsenal ended in June.

Reports from The Athletic indicate that Partey has undergone a medical and is set to sign a two-year contract with the Spanish club, extending through 2027.

This transfer would mark Partey’s return to Spain, where he previously played for Atletico Madrid before moving to Arsenal.

On July 4, Partey faced charges including five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

The Ghanaian international denies all allegations.

The investigation began in February 2022, yet Partey continued to play for Arsenal until his contract expired.

He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 5.
