According to reports, a Nigerian man living abroad was deported from Europe for being honest enough to return a misplaced wallet to the authorities, which unintentionally revealed his immigration status.

The man described how the Nigerian discovered a misplaced wallet and made the moral decision to take it to the police station in a widely circulated video on X (previously Twitter) by AsakyGRN.

He was unable to produce identification, though, when the authorities requested it.

He was eventually deported after it was found that he was an illegal immigrant residing in the nation.

Online reactions to the story were emotional. “There is no balance in this world,” remarked one critic. When someone does well, they are punished.

Another said,“Law is law. The police did their job.”Others expressed sympathy, with one user saying, “He chose honesty over survival. That’s painful.”

The incident has brought to light the harsh realities of living overseas without documentation, where even well-meaning intentions can have dire repercussions.
