Former England forward Gary Lineker has shared insights into why some of Europe’s top clubs did not pursue Victor Osimhen this summer.

Despite links to big names like Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and Manchester United, Osimhen reportedly received no firm offers from these teams.

Instead, the Nigerian striker, aged 26, declined a proposal from Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.

Recently, Osimhen finalized a €75 million permanent move to Galatasaray, where he had been on loan last season from Napoli.

On The Rest is Football podcast, Lineker suggested that several clubs were hesitant or “nervous” about signing Osimhen.

He said: “I hear through the grapevine that some clubs are a bit nervous because he sometimes goes missing for a few days.

“So apparently, there are slight concerns about his character in that regard.”
