Fr. Kelvin Ugwu, a Catholic missionary priest serving in the Gambia, has cautioned people not to believe miracle tales they hear in churches or ministries.

The comment was made in the midst of contentious films that have gone popular online showing members of several churches expressing their amazing stories, which have left many social media users doubtful.

An old woman stated in one of the films seen by ZINGTIE that she had a dream in which she was attacked by four armed thieves.

As per her statement, she “miraculously gained control of their guns and ensured the arrest of three of the robbers”.

Similar to this, a man came forward to say that he had survived gunshot wounds, machete attacks, and kidnapping “without injury,” which raised doubts and worries about the veracity of the miracles.

At the same time, the Catholic priest asserted that as long as they haven’t been independently verified.

“Don’t be carried away by the miracle testimonies you hear in churches or ministries; as long as they have not been independently verified, treat them as fake and lies,” he wrote on his Facebook page on Monday.
