At least seven rebels, including two of their leaders, were killed as troops from Operation Hadin Kai repulsed an onslaught by Islamic State of West Africa Province, or ISWAP, fighters in Wulgo, Borno State.
The killed leaders were identified as Abu Nazir, the Munzir of Juye, and Abu Fatima, the Munzir of Koloram, according to security officials. According to reports, the gunfight injured a number of additional militants.
Zagazola Makama, a security analyst, revealed the revelation in a post on Thursday via X.
Additionally, he disclosed that the military had retrieved four motorbikes from the assailants; nevertheless, the escaping militants had set a military armored vehicle, the MRAP, on fire.
“The terrorists came heavily armed but were decisively engaged. We inflicted heavy casualties on them, including two of their senior commanders,” a security source said.
