Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad, a prominent political activist from Northern Nigeria, has expressed concerns that President Bola Tinubu’s administration may use threats and emergency rule to consolidate its power.

She warned that after the government’s intervention in Rivers State, other states and elected officials, including lawmakers, could face similar actions.

In an interview with Premier Radio in Kano, Naja’atu alleged that the federal government is actively seeking to exert control over specific states to maintain Tinubu’s dominance in national politics.

She highlighted Kano as a potential target, accusing the administration of attempting to impose emergency rule there.

According to her, the ongoing dispute over the Kano Emirate has been politicized, with the federal government allegedly fueling the crisis to justify interference.

She argued that the people of Kano are primarily focused on their businesses and livelihoods, rather than being involved in power struggles over traditional leadership.

“This is exactly what they tried to do in Kano. That’s why there is the Kano Emir, and then there is the Federal Government’s Emir,” she said, questioning who is truly behind the crisis.

Naja’atu also warned that the federal government might extend similar tactics to other states, using its influence to remove elected officials, including senators, to pave the way for new elections.

She urged Nigerians to stay alert and resist any attempts to impose emergency rule, warning that such actions could undermine the country’s democratic governance.
