On Tuesday, former U.S. President Donald Trump directed the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator, Lee Zeldin, to restore water usage standards for household appliances that were removed under President Joe Biden’s administration.

Trump shared this information in a post on his Truth Social account earlier that morning.

It’s worth noting that during Trump’s time in office, his administration implemented rules that rolled back water efficiency standards for washing machines in the final stages of his first term.

“I am hereby instructing Secretary, Lee Zeldin to immediately go back to my Environmental Orders, which were terminated by Crooked Joe Biden, on Water Standards and Flow pertaining to SINKS, SHOWERS, TOILETS, WASHING MACHINES, DISHWASHERS, etc., and to likewise go back to the common sense standards on LIGHTBULBS, that were put in place by the Trump Administration, but terminated by Crooked Joe,” Trump wrote.

“I look forward to signing these Orders. THANK YOU!!!”

Reports indicate that this move comes after Trump signed an executive order ending a U.S. government initiative to replace plastic straws with paper alternatives.

This order reverses a measure Biden had introduced, considering plastic pollution as a significant environmental issue.

Last year, Biden had instructed the U.S. government to gradually stop purchasing plastic straws, cutlery, and packaging.

However, Trump, speaking to reporters at the White House on Monday, said: “We’re going back to plastic straws.”
