U.S. President Donald Trump has nominated retired Air Force Lt. Gen. Dan “Razin” Caine as the next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Trump announced the nomination on his official Truth Social account, stating that Gen. Caine would replace the recently fired U.S. Army General, CQ Brown.
The President praised Gen. Caine, a retired three-star general, for his role in helping defeat the ISIS terrorist group during Trump’s first term.
Trump also mentioned that Gen. Caine had been overlooked for promotion under the previous administration led by former President Joe Biden.
“Despite being highly qualified and respected to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the previous administration, General Caine was passed over for promotion by Sleepy Joe Biden,” Trump wrote.
The dismissed Gen. Brown, the second Black officer to hold the post, made headlines in 2020 for his remarks about racism following the death of George Floyd.
