Kylian Mbappe, a forward for Real Madrid, has thrown down the gauntlet to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich as both teams look ahead to their much-anticipated UEFA Champions League showdown next month.

Mbappe is currently playing for his national team, scoring France’s first goal in their 2-1 friendly win against Brazil, the five-time world champions, at Boston’s Gillette Stadium on Thursday.

The French international is having an exceptional second season with Los Blancos, netting almost 40 goals in all competitions, with 13 of those coming in nine Champions League matches.

“Yes, of course I want to win with Real,” Mbappe stated during the Telefoot program on TF1.

To address worries that his focus is exclusively on the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, Mbappe stated, “In Spain, some individuals are somewhat anxious that I won’t be participating – they believe I’ll be heading directly to the World Cup.

“However, this is of utmost importance. We are still competing in La Liga and the Champions League.

“In the Champions League, we are facing a formidable opponent, likely the team in the best form at present. If there is one team capable of defeating them, it is Real Madrid.”

Kylian Mbappe and his teammates emerged victorious against well-known adversaries Manchester City, boasting a 5-1 aggregate score in the Round of 16 after overcoming Benfica in the knockout play-offs. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich secured their quarter-final spot with an astonishing 10-2 aggregate win over Atalanta.
