British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has acknowledged that former US President Donald Trump makes a valid point regarding the need for European nations to take on a greater responsibility for their collective self-defence.

Starmer made these remarks during an interview with the New York Times on Sunday.

“We need to think about defence and security in a more immediate way,” he said.

The UK Prime Minister is working on forming a multinational military coalition, which he refers to as the “coalition of the willing,” aimed at securing Ukraine’s skies, ports, and borders once a peace agreement is reached.

Speaking on Trump, the UK PM said, “On a person-to-person basis, I think we have a good relationship.”

However, he noted that some of Trump’s actions, such as imposing a 25% tariff on British steel and criticizing Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, have caused considerable confusion.
