Ukachukwu makes fresh declaration as he dumps APGA for APC

Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu (Ikukuoma), a prominent figure in Anambra State politics, left his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), on Wednesday in favour of the centre-right All Progressives Congress (APC).

He announced his plan to run for governor of Anambra State in 2025 during the event, which was hosted at his Osumenyi country residence in Nnewi, Nnewi South Local Government Area.

Ukachukwu praised Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his speech, claiming that he has the nation’s best interests at heart.

He said: “Tinubu means well for Nigeria. He is the only president tackling Nigeria’s problems head-on,” Ukachukwu stated.

“Tinubu is running the country like a business, which may involve short-term sacrifices but will ultimately lead to prosperity.

Speaking to reporters, Ukachukwu said he was happy to join the APC and that it all depended on his goal of connecting Anambra State with the federal government and advancing the state.

“Tinubu does not hate the Igbo. You see the Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, and other tribes all complaining. He is working to refix and rebuild the country, and his policy is not one.”

He pledged that within three months of taking office, he will address hunger, insecurity, poverty, and suffering in Anambra State in addition to maintaining the pace of good governance started by President Tinubu.

Along with other ward executive members, Osumenyi APC Ward 1 Chairman Hon. Ikechukwu Onyeka formally welcomed Ukachukwu, a former member of the National Assembly’s green chamber and an APGA governorship candidate in the 2021 governorship election.
