Russia has dismissed allegations made by Ukraine that it has recruited an unspecified number of Chinese citizens to fight alongside its troops in the ongoing conflict.

In an interview with TASS News Agency, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko labeled the claim as inaccurate.

“To put it mildly, that is far from the truth,” Rudenko stated on Saturday.

He further remarked that China’s approach to the Ukraine situation has been measured, expressing appreciation for what he described as a balanced stance from their Chinese counterparts.

Last Tuesday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported the capture of individuals of Chinese origin, accusing Russia of attempting to draw China into the conflict that has lasted three years.

Zelenskyy also revealed that 155 persons were identified as Chinese nationals, based on passport information and personal details.

Responding to the allegations, China’s Foreign Ministry reaffirmed that the country is not involved in the conflict and had previously warned its citizens against participating in combat.

Meanwhile, the United States is observing the developments. National Security Council spokesperson Brian Hughes commented that if China were indeed supporting Russia in this way, it would represent a serious escalation.
