After European allies accused Moscow of stalling over the Trump administration’s call for a ceasefire, Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Friday that the United States will know in a few weeks if Russia is serious about peace with Ukraine.

In addition to vowing to end the three-year-old war quickly, President Donald Trump has stated for weeks that he thinks Vladimir Putin of Russia is dedicated to peace.

Despite Trump’s continued public indication that he believes Putin wants to end the war, the White House has apparently become more suspicious of Putin’s intentions in recent days.

“We will know soon enough, in a matter of weeks, not months, whether Russia is serious about peace or not. I hope they are.

“If this is dragging things out, President Trump’s not going to fall into the trap of endless negotiations about negotiations.

“We’re testing to see if the Russians are interested in peace. Their actions – not their words, their actions – will determine whether they’re serious or not, and we intend to find that out sooner rather than later,” Rubio said.

According to ZINGTIE, Ukraine agreed to a US proposal for a full 30-day truce in March, but Moscow rejected it.

The two opposing factions then decided to temporarily stop attacking one another’s energy infrastructure, which they both claim has been violated.

Washington, meanwhile, stated that it was still in negotiations with both parties.
