Your understanding of the Kingdom of God is directly proportional to the level of the Holy Spirit you can receive. This is why the first-century Christians recorded great results (Acts 2:4).

Seek Ye First the Kingdom

“Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). The keyword in this statement is righteousness that aligns with the Kingdom. For context, righteousness means to be in right standing with the will of God (1 John 3:7).

Righteousness is a word that means your response is needed; this is what triggers faith. For example, God told Abraham to leave a place he had known all his life (Genesis 12:1). If you check that Bible story well, you will see God didn’t force Abraham. He told Abraham what to do, and righteousness is the reason Abraham obeyed (Hebrews 11:8).

The first-century Christians always searched for righteousness when they wanted to see faith. This is why righteousness is important to have an increase in the Holy Spirit. Remember, the Bible said that without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). The simple reason is that without faith in God, you can’t be righteous. And without righteousness, you can’t say you are seeking first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness.

The Will of God

To seek the Kingdom, you should be ready to do only the will of God (Romans 12:2). This means your will dies, and God’s will, which is implanted inside you, rises above. As you walk in the will of God, you will be given more responsibility in the Kingdom (Luke 16:10). The more responsibility you get in the Kingdom, the more portion of the Holy Spirit you are given. Spiritually awakened Christians call it dimensions of the Spirit.

The Bible sees it as more responsibility because you will develop the heart to do the will of God, take instructions, and live for the Kingdom as opposed to living for yourself (Galatians 2:20).

Learning from the Old Testament

Lastly, it is not a popular opinion to say that the best way to know the power of the Holy Spirit is to read the Old Testament. There, ordinary men, classified as weak, became great men because they worked according to the will of God, and that is textbook righteousness (Hebrews 11:32-34).

You cant serve God without righteousness. You cant be righteous without faith, and you cant have faith without studying the Bible (Romans 10:17).
