The University of Lagos (UNILAG) on Friday, September 12, 2025, formally welcomed 450 new students into the 2024/2025 Academic Session of its Sandwich Programme.

The matriculation ceremony, held at the Faculty of Education Auditorium, was presided over by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics and Research), Professor Bola Oboh, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS.

Addressing the new students, Prof. Oboh described their admission as both a privilege and a responsibility. “I urge you to see your admission into the sandwich programme as a call to responsibility as you begin your pursuit of knowledge in UNILAG,” she said.

She assured them of maximum support from faculty members and a conducive learning environment, while urging them to take their academic journey seriously. “Make the best of your time in UNILAG by acquiring knowledge, building character, and learning relevant skills which will make you more valuable and impactful even before the end of your programme,” she advised.

Prof. Oboh also encouraged the students to embrace innovation and technology. “Take advantage of the numerous facilities which the University offers to acquire marketable digital and innovation skills that will position you better for the 21st-century professional industry,” she added.

The highlight of the ceremony was the administration of the Matriculation Oath by the Registrar, Mrs. Victoria Wickliffe, after the formal presentation of the students to the university management by the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Professor Simeon Oladipo.

The 450 newly admitted students are enrolled in the Sandwich Programme across the Departments of Adult Education, Arts Education, Educational Foundations, Educational Management, Human Kinetics and Health Education, Science Education, Social Sciences Education, and Technology & Vocational Education.
