Students carried placards and engaged in conversations advocating for bodily autonomy, consent, safe sex, and self-care. Led by youth SRHR Champions, the walk created a platform for young people to discuss topics often considered taboo. A participant appreciated the open and non-judgmental environment, saying, “This is something we need. Most of us don’t get this kind of education in school or at home
HACEY Programme Team Lead, Bamidele Oyewumi, praised the students’ enthusiasm, stating, “The energy was electrifying. The young stars are not just passive listeners; they’re ready to lead the movement for change.” The campaign included informal discussion corners where students interacted with trained SRHR Champions, clarifying myths about sex, relationships, and their rights.

The organizers provided educational materials, referrals, and information about youth-friendly healthcare services to ensure the conversations translated into real access and long-term impact. Student influencers and content creators also participated, amplifying key messages and encouraging peers to prioritize their well-being.
This event aligns with broader initiatives in Nigeria aimed at empowering vulnerable populations, including women and youths. For instance, the Nigerian government has approved N6 billion for conditional cash transfers and interest-free loans to support displaced households and rural farmers. Similarly, organizations like the Dangote Foundation and Access Bank’s W Initiative are working to empower women entrepreneurs through grants and training programs
