Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has praised the contributions of the home-based players in Nigeria’s 2-1 triumph over Ghana’s Black Stars.

In the match, Chelle featured three players from the domestic league Sodiq Ismail, Papa Daniel, and Sikiru Alimi in his starting lineup.

Ismail provided the assist for Cyriel Dessers’ opening goal, while both Daniel and Alimi also delivered standout performances in what turned out to be a highly competitive fixture.

The coach, who hails from Mali, noted that the local talents have shown they possess the necessary skill and potential, emphasizing the importance of offering them opportunities at the national level.

“These players, they have some qualities,” Chelle said during his interaction with the media.

“My job is to analyse. My job is to make some choices. If I’m wrong, then I’m guilty. But the reality is that I want to give some chances to these guys. Because I need to put in my team some guys who can add something because we need to win.”

Nigeria is now set to face Jamaica in the final match of the Unity Cup, which will take place on Saturday at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, London.
