According to FUOYE Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Mufutau Ibrahim, the Council approved Prof. Fasina’s leave for six months, equivalent to 126 working days out of his total entitlement of 228 days, effective April 14, 2025. Ibrahim stated, “The Governing Council of FUOYE, at its 7th emergency meeting held online on Monday, 14 April, 2025, considered the request of the VC, Prof. Fasina, to proceed on his accumulated annual and research leave and approved six months, being 126 working days out of his total entitlements of 228 days, with effect from today, Monday, 14th April, 2025.”
Prof. Olubunmi Shittu will serve as acting vice-chancellor for a period of six months, effective April 14, 2025. The appointment was made due to Prof. Shittu’s seniority as the most senior of the three deputy vice-chancellors. Ibrahim added, “In addition, the Governing Council appointed Prof. Olubunmi Shittu, the incumbent DVC Academics, who is also the most senior of the three DVCs as acting VC of the University for a period of six months with effect from today Monday 14th April, 2025.”

It’s worth noting that Prof. Fasina’s leave comes after allegations of sexual harassment, which led to his decision to proceed on accumulated leave rather than face suspension
