The Katsina State Government has taken delivery of its first container of donated medical supplies from World Medical Relief in Detroit, United States of America. This development stems from Governor Dikko Radda’s visit to World Medical Relief headquarters in November 2023, where he met with the president of the organisation, Mr. George Samson, and his team.

According to Ibrahim Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,

“The Governor conveyed his passion to ensure the good people of Katsina have access to high-quality healthcare. He also informed President Samson of the healthcare needs assessment results conducted by the Katsina State Government immediately after he assumed office.”

“Subsequently, Governor Radda secured a commitment for ten containers of essential medical equipment and supplies. It should be noted that an average container has equipment and supplies worth $1 million,” he said.

Governor Radda secured a commitment for ten containers of essential medical equipment and supplies, with each container valued at approximately $1 million.

Two additional containers are currently en route from Lagos, while seven remain in transit on the high seas.

World Medical Relief has also committed to helping Katsina State source state-of-the-art MRIs and CT scans, including installation and training for technicians at a discounted rate.

Governor Radda described the partnership as “the administration’s commitment to reform healthcare delivery in Katsina State. These medical supplies will significantly enhance our capacity to provide quality healthcare services to our citizens.”

“The state government has implemented a distribution plan to ensure the efficient delivery of these vital medical resources to healthcare facilities.

“Since assuming office, Governor Radda has shown keen interest in reforming the healthcare sector, leading to the upgrade and transformation of some healthcare facilities to comprehensive health Centres and general hospital standards to cater to the residents’ needs,” Mohammed explained.
