The Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, has once again raised false expectations regarding the vote count for the impending election, insisting on a result on election night.
“We want the answer tonight,” the 78-year-old shouted during his final rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a vital swing state.
Trump’s unsubstantiated allegations of electoral fraud had already stoked anxiety in the days preceding the election.
The contest between him and Democrat Kamala Harris is anticipated to be tight.
Given the delays brought on by postal votes in several states, it is doubtful that the election results will be announced mere hours after the polls close.
Recall how Trump, who was briefly ahead of Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election, declared himself the winner on election night and demanded that the vote count be stopped.
