On Friday, the United States Central Command declared that Abu-‘Abd al-Rahman al-Makki, the senior head of a terrorist organisation, had been killed by Syrian forces.
Under Executive Order 13224, Hurras al-Din was classified by the US as a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist” in September 2019.
Al-Makki was slain in a “targeted kinetic strike” in Syria, according to Fox News.
Al-Makki belonged to Hurras al-Din, an organisation that shares ideological affinities with Al-Qaeda in Syria, as a senior leader and council member.
He was in charge of the group’s terrorist activities in that country in the Middle East.
“CENTCOM remains committed to the enduring defeat of terrorists in the CENTCOM area of responsibility who threaten the United States, its allies and partners, and regional stability,” said Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla, Commander, U.S. Central Command.
Hurras al-Din and similar groups, according to CENTCOM, are opposed to the West and her allies, which include the US.
