Shehu Sani, a former lawmaker who represented the Kaduna Central Senatorial District, stated that the United States does not hold a larger stake in global peace and prosperity than other wealthier nations.
Sani made this remark in a statement shared on his official X account on Monday.
He, however, pointed out that the US withdrawal from certain United Nations agencies has resulted in a significant funding gap and limitations for the global organization.
The former lawmaker wrote: “Many staff have been relieved of their jobs. The over dependence of the UN on American money is a serious mistake that should now be corrected.
“The oil rich gulf states, Europe and China have no reason not to fill the gap. America doesn’t have a bigger stake in world peace and prosperity than other rich nations.
“The UN is now sidelined on global matters and risk sliding into complete irrelevance. It supposed to save the world but now it needs to be saved.”
