US: Illegal migrant convicted of raping, murdering mother of five children

After just one hour of deliberation on Monday, the jury found illegal immigrant Victor Martinez-Hernandez guilty of raping and killing Rachel Morin, a mother of five children, in the United States.

Because of the horrific attack on Morin, 37, in Baltimore, Martinez-Hernandez, 24, was convicted in August 2023 of first degree rape and murder.

He now faces life in jail for the heinous crime and must await punishment.

The defense took ten minutes to answer on Monday after the prosecution wrapped up their case in the jury trial just last Friday.

According to Fox Baltimore, this allowed the jurors to have an incredible short deliberation period, as they reached their judgment inside an hour.

But Harford County State Attorney Alison Healey has already stated that she will pursue the maximum punishment for Martinez-Hernandez.

“The quickness of the verdict speaks to the strength of the evidence in the case,” Healey said. “This was an airtight case.”

According to Healey, Morin “fought for her life” in her last moments after being severely battered, “raped, and ultimately murdered at the hands of the defendant.”
