The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has named Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti governor Ayo Fayose, as its new national chairman.
Isaac continued by announcing the suspension of a number of prominent figures from the party’s two sections, including Seyi Makinde, Ayo Fayose, Nyesom Wike, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and other G5 members.
He went on to say that anyone who is offended by his choice should take it up in court.
“It’s official, now I’m the new national Chairman of the PDP. The current [Acting] National Chairman, Mr Damagum, has been suspended and I’ve asked the security at Wadata House to keep the key with the Secretariat.
“If you’re not happy, please, we don’t want you to come to the secretariat to make trouble. You can go to court. And the NWC, some of you have been suspended, drop all the PDP stuff with you at the security at Wandata. The former G5 has been suspended. Wike has been suspended.
“Fayose has been suspended. Governor Seyi Makinde has been suspended. All the people doing anti-party have been suspended. Atiku too has been suspended because his ambition is giving us headache,” he declared.
ZINGTIE previously revealed that Damagum and the party’s national secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, had been suspended by a group of the PDP National Working Committee, or NWC.
Additionally, Debo Ologunagba, the party’s national publicity secretary, and Kamaldeen Ajibade, its national legal adviser, were suspended by the breakaway NWC.
Nonetheless, the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) were barred from removing Damagum from his position as Acting National Chairman by the Abuja Federal High Court.
The court mandated that Damagum be the only person acknowledged as the PDP national chairman until the party’s national convention, which is set for December of the following year.
