Former President Muhammadu Buhari passed away in a London hospital on Sunday, and a Hausa man claiming to be an ex-police officer, Muhammad Ali Ringim, has sworn never to forgive him.
Ringim, who was shown on camera taking the promise, claimed that his resentment of the late Buhari was a result of his abrupt dismissal from the police force in 1984, while the deceased was the head of state.
Ringim, who spoke in Hausa, claimed that he was wrongfully fired from the police service, accused Buhari of being his victim, and vowed never to forgive or forget what the late leader had done to him.
He said: “Even if Buhari dies, I will not forgive him. May God forgive him for his short comings but I will not forgive him even in death.
“He dismissed from my job as a police officer in 1984 and till today, I have been suffering. I have been going through hardship since he unjustly dismissed me from my job and you want me to forgive him?
“I will not and cannot forgive him. As a Muslim, if anything happens to your brother, you tell Allah to grant him comfort but for me, I cannot forgive Buhari.
“I had three stars (Deputy Superintendent) in the Nigeria Police Force but Buhari dismissed me and since then, I have been suffering and you want me forgive him? I cannot and I will not.”
