A woman from Nigeria has pleaded for assistance, alleging that she was deserted in Owerri (the capital of Imo State) after making a journey from Lagos State to back Seyi Tinubu at an empowerment rally for the City Boy Movement.

The woman stated that she was among those hired from Lagos to attend the event and campaign for the All Progressives Congress. She stated that they were promised payment and empowerment items for participating in the rally, but after arriving in Owerri, she received nothing.

She clarified that she currently lacks funds to go back to Lagos and made an appeal to Nigerians for help in order to return home.

The woman pleaded with Nigerians, saying she needed transport fare. Seyi Tinubu and APC contracted us to campaign for APC from Lagos to Imo, but they did not fulfill their payment promise or provide me with any of the distributed items. At the moment, I lack the funds to return to Lagos.

She mentioned that she had been brought from Lagos to Owerri for the campaign and was then left without the promised payment. She mentioned that she did not receive any of the items distributed during the empowerment programme.

Additionally, she named Seyi Tinubu, Cubana Chief Priest, and Obi Cubana while requesting payment for the work she claimed she was invited to do.

She stated that she needs to receive payment for being hired to campaign from Lagos to Owerri. According to her, she was not paid as promised, did not collect any of the shared items, and now lacks money for her return trip to Lagos.

Supporters of Bola Ahmed Tinubu organised the rally in Owerri as part of efforts to mobilise grassroots support for a possible re-election campaign in the 2027 presidential election.

Nonetheless, after a number of locals dashed into the place where the event was being held, it is said to have become chaotic. The abrupt motion sparked fear in the crowd and drove numerous individuals to flee the vicinity.

Videos shared online depicted crowds fleeing the event, while some attempted to gather items intended for distribution at the empowerment program.

Materials including tailoring machines, refrigerators, and other items thought to have been set aside for beneficiaries at the rally were seen being carried away by several individuals.

According to witnesses, the situation turned chaotic within minutes as shouting and pushing spread throughout the venue. While a few individuals attempted to flee the chaos, others took advantage of the situation to seize the items intended for distribution.
