After making a contentious warning to married men and boyfriends about their partners’ frequenting of the well-known I-Fitness gym in Lagos, a Nigerian woman has ignited a fierce internet controversy.

She made the following statement, which went viral and ignited social media:

“If your wife is going to I-Fitness gym, check up on her.”

The comment, which is full of suspicion and innuendo, implies that the gym, which is well-known for its luxurious amenities and lively social scene, might be a place for temptation, flirtation, and more than simply fitness objectives.

One of the top fitness franchises in Lagos, I-Fitness, is well known for encouraging community, wellbeing, and health. But like many contemporary gyms, it also serves as a gathering place for people from all walks of life, sometimes going beyond exercise regimens.

People on social media have responded in a variety of ways, including amusement, indignation, and interest. While some mockingly acknowledged that the gym scene in Lagos might occasionally resemble a dating pool, particularly among the young and trendy, others disregarded the warning as unfounded worry.
