Joy Markus, a Nigerian woman who just moved back home after seven years in the US, has talked candidly about her concern of reconverting to Christianity.
When she relocated to the US at the age of sixteen, she converted from Christianity to atheism.
Joy claimed she could see her thoughts shifting a few days after declaring her intention to self-deport to Nigeria.
In a TikTok video, Joy claimed that because she would be living with her parents and her mother was offended by her atheism, she had consented to attend church while in Nigeria.
She told her TikTok fans that if she were to reaffirm her Christian beliefs, it would indicate that an extraterrestrial was taking over her head.
She stated: “When I’m back in Nigeria, my Nigerian accent is going to come back and I can, maybe, it’s already back.
“I can feel my mind changing. I can feel myself preparing for Nigeria.
“I’m an atheist but I’ve agreed to go to church because I will be living with my parents and I know it upsets my mother that I am an atheist.
“So, I just want to give her a piece of my mind. Cause fine, I will just make that sacrifice. But, um, I’m so scared that I’m going to rediscover my faith.
“Guys, if I rediscover my faith, I need you guys to know I’m being mind-controlled by an alien. Be very worried if I start sounding churchy again.”
She further begged: “You guys have a duty to prevent me from backsliding in Christianity please. It’s so scary.”
