Abel Damina, the vocal senior pastor of Abel Damina Ministries International, has taken strong exception to the way that his contentious belief that God cannot be reduced to a single religion, particularly Christianity, has been interpreted online.
As you may recall, in his widely shared sermon, Pastor Damina provoked outrage by insisting that those who identify as Christians and think that Christianity is the only religion that can get them to heaven should abandon their beliefs.
He firmly maintained that God does not align Himself solely with Christianity, stressing that even Jesus did not identify as a Christian during His earthly ministry.
In a scathing response to an online report on his contentious remarks, Pastor Damina delivered a biting sermon in which he accused the PUNCH newspaper of gross misinterpretation.
He passionately read aloud the part of their report he claimed was untrue.
“PUNCH newspaper wrote a misleading publication about me and it’s online”
“They wrote; “Popular pastor, Abel Damina, has explained why God is not a Christian while charging his congregations to stop believing that only the people who believe in Jesus will go to heaven.”
Pastor Abel Damina strongly denied having ever said anything like that, calling the misquotation an illegality.
He continued by expressing a great desire to bring legal action against those responsible.
According to Pastor Abel Damina, he does not disagree with the idea that only Christians will be admitted to heaven.
Rather, he insisted that God is greater than words like “Christian.” He underlined that acceptance of the gospel and believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ guarantee admission into paradise for individuals of all faiths, whether traditionalists or followers of other religions.
Pastor Abel Damina vehemently defended his position by using scripture and offering a compelling scriptural argument.
