Popular Anambra-based pastor Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, often known as Pastor Odumeje or “indaboski,” has severely encouraged Nigerian teenagers applying to universities to avoid taking certain courses that he deems pointless.
“These are useless courses. What are you doing with them?” he asked, and urged potential students to reconsider their course of study in order to save time and money.
On Monday, June 2, 2025, Pastor Odumeje warned prospective university students against selecting specific academic programs in a widely viewed viral video on social media.
Political science, history, microbiology, library information science, and sociology are among the subjects he identified as having minimal value, particularly for students from underprivileged backgrounds.
“All these poor people, if your father does not have any connection in politics or government, don’t go to school and begin to study political science, history, microbiology and sociology. These are useless courses. What are you doing with them?” he stated emphatically.
