Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, reaffirms his undivided dedication to his ministerial responsibilities in the face of the current unrest in Rivers State.

Wike expressed this during the last project inspection visit in the country’s capital before its inauguration.

The former governor of Rivers State revealed the long-standing disagreement with Governor Siminalyi Fubara, his successor, which worsened in October 2023 after certain state lawmakers started the impeachment process against Fubara.

Speaking to guests at a civic event in Ogu-Bolo, Rivers State, on Saturday, Wike stated, “I want to say this clearly: in life, we have made a mistake. I have made a mistake. I own it up, and I say God forgive me. I have said all of you forgive me. But we will correct it at the appropriate time.”

However, in interviews with media during the inspection visit in Abuja, Wike reiterated his emphasis on achieving outcomes, pointing to the completion of several projects scheduled for inauguration. 

“I am not distracted. If I’m distracted, you won’t see this performance here. I focus on my work. I am the Minister of the FCT, and the works are going on. So, why would I be distracted? I don’t even think about it all,” he asserted.
