Prior to Governor Umo Eno’s formal defection, a number of governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, are in Akwa Ibom State.
Ahead of Eno’s move from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, the governors stormed Uyo.
The Progressive Governors Forum Chairman and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, Bassey Otu of Cross River State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State are among the APC governors present at the Akwa Ibom State Government House in Uyo.
Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, Monday Okpebholo of Edo State, and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State are among the others.
Eno had declared a few days prior that it was time for him to formally join the APC.
Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has formally switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
On Friday, Eno defected in the capital of Akwa Ibom State, Uyo.
The governor stated that it was time for him to join the APC a few days prior to this.
Eno had said that “it is time to move” and align the state with the APC at the federal level while speaking at a town hall meeting in Ikot Abasi.
According to the governor, the choice was made following lengthy deliberations.
