Simple, a suspected thief, was taken into custody by vigilante members at Marine Quarters in Warri, Delta State, on Friday morning. Simple is accused of breaking into a Lexus car that was parked by the side of the road at Gbiaye Street off 3rd Marine Gate.

After breaking the car’s rear glass, the suspect—a former local vigilante—was apprehended in the act.

They shackled him to the ground and beat him till he died.

The suspect admitted to stealing under pressure, stating, “I feel very much ashamed of myself now,” when questioned by the ZINGTIE journalist.

The vigilante is still holding the suspect while they wait for the cops to arrive and take him away for additional questioning and maybe legal action.

Just last week, alleged criminals got into the Nigeria Union of Journalists, or NUJ, Warri Correspondents’ Chapel secretariat and took pricey cables that were attached to the diesel-powered generator located on the same Gbiaye Street.
