A young man describes the startling response he received from his Nigerian mother when he addressed her by name.

The young man called his mother the funniest person and played the humorous trick on her.

His mother was walking behind a young man when he suddenly called out her name, “Dayo,” which caused her to turn around.

She chastised him in Yoruba and questioned whether he had gone insane.

His mother had to remind him emphatically that she was his mother and not his buddy since the young man persisted in his play.

She reminded him, “I’m your mother, not your friend.”
