Shola Allyson, a Nigerian singer, has finally explained why she doesn’t include Jesus’ name in any of her songs.

ZINGTIE remembers that in March 2025, Allyson, a well-known gospel singer, faced backlash on social media for failing to specifically mention “Jesus” in all of her songs.

“No one can bully me into joining their darkness that looks like light because indolent souls find comfort in it,” the singer wrote in response to her critics in a post on X.

In her most recent interview on Oyinmomo TV on Saturday, Shola Allyson finally explained why she doesn’t mention Jesus in her songs: Jesus didn’t ask her to handle public relations for him.

She said “I’m not a religious singer. As I am, I have never introduced myself as a gospel singer. My name is Shola Allyson. I’m a singer”.

Interviewer; “Some people said you don’t mention ‘Jesus’ name’ in all your songs”.
She quickly responded “Jesus did not instruct us to mention his name in songs nor did Jesus ask us to do PR for Him”.
