A woman has come forward to share her harrowing experience of escaping an attempted robbery in Ikorodu, Lagos State. She attributed her narrow escape to being aware of the tactic employed by the robbers, which had been previously shared by other victims on social media platform TikTok.

According to the woman, she boarded a keke napep (tricycle) and noticed that two men were already seated at the back. As the journey progressed, the driver requested that she close the tarpaulin cover at the entrance of the keke, which is typically used to shield passengers from the rain.

The driver also suggested that she move to the middle of the keke, allowing the man seated in the middle to relocate to the entrance. However, the woman’s suspicions were aroused, as it was not raining at the time.

She became increasingly uneasy about the driver’s intentions and politely requested that the keke be stopped, citing that she had forgotten something at home.

Upon disembarking, the woman alleged that the driver and the two men in the keke verbally assaulted her.

The woman has since warned other residents of Ikorodu to exercise caution and be aware of this new robbery tactic. Her experience serves as a reminder to remain vigilant, especially when using public transportation.
