When her estranged husband, who left her and their kid ten years ago, abruptly reappeared and demanded custody, a Nigerian mother took to TikTok to share an incredibly moving story.
The woman shared moments with her daughter in the recordings, emphasizing the relationship they had developed because the father is no longer there. She said that since going missing ten years ago, the dad had not provided any kind of support, only to resurface with buddies in an attempt to claim the child.
She addresses him head-on in one tape, saying: “Go and bring your police! You’re coming after 10 years saying trash. After 10 years of singlehandedly fending for myself and the child.”
In a subsequent tweet, she reiterated her outcry and criticized his entire family for their lack of participation: “Since 10 years, all of una no show up. No support from any of una. My daughter no owe any of una 5 kobo. Near my daughter make I show all of una real madness.”
Speaking to a guy named Bosun, she recounted the mistreatment she endured following childbirth: “As for you Bosun, you were there when your brother was beating me three weeks after I gave birth just because of food, and you didn’t stop him. You even had the nerve to follow them to my shop to threaten me after I left una house 10 years ago. Go and barb your hair first, you look so unkempt and dirty.”
She talked about the harsh circumstances of her pregnancy, stating: “I started seeing birth water since I was 5 months pregnant because of everyday beating. Any little misunderstanding like this, he don kick my stomach.”
She recalled the horror and attributed her survival to both heavenly mercy and medical assistance: “Only God and Odunmoluon hospital at Ayegbami Ijebu-Ode saved me and my daughter’s life. None of them show up. Even when I was discharged, I still went back home. 3 weeks after I gave birth, I was beaten like thief because he told me to cook and I didn’t have any money with me.”
Her fortitude and resilience in the face of long-standing abuse and abandonment were praised by viewers in the comments section of the videos, which swiftly garnered popularity.
