Real Madrid winger, Vinicius Junior, has opened up about why he never bid farewell to former manager Xabi Alonso.
In a post-match press conference ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League quarter-final clash against Bayern Munich, Vinicius addressed questions regarding his lack of a social media tribute for Alonso. The Brazilian forward suggested that he and the former Liverpool midfielder did not share the best of relationships during their time together at the club.
Asked about the absence of a goodbye post for Xabi Alonso, Vinicius explained, “Every coach has their own things and maybe we did not connect well,” as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
“It was a difficult moment because I was playing for a few minutes. I learned a lot, I reflected and I am improved now,” he added.
Experts have speculated that Alonso’s dismissal from Real Madrid stemmed from his challenges in managing the egos within the squad. Alonso, who took over from Carlo Ancelotti, was dismissed after a brief spell at the Santiago Bernabeu last year.
