Abraham Amah, the chairman of the Abia State PDP, has been expelled for claimed impersonation by Frontiers for Change and Progress, a faction of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP.

The group also called the Abia State PDP chairman’s decision to suspend Adolphus Wabara, the head of the PDP Board of Trustees, a “big joke.”

Emeka Yellow Ikpegbu, the group’s national coordinator and a former commissioner of the Abia State Oil Producing Area Development Commission, or ASOPADEC, announced Amah’s expulsion in Umuahia on Tuesday. He said that Amah lacked the constitutional authority to remove Senator Wabara from office.

Contrary to Amah’s assertions, Ikpegbu asserted that the Abia PDP now lacks a state executive and that the state PDP congress that produced Amah has been halted by a lawful court injunction.

“We heard this afternoon that one Amah Abraham, parading as Abia PDP Chairman, claimed he had suspended the BoT chairman of our great party, His Excellency, Senator Adolphus Wabara. He even claimed he had removed him as the BoT Chairman of the PDP.

“But those of us who know Abraham Amah are not surprised. We know his antecedents. He claims to be PDP Chairman, but the truth remains that Abia PDP has no EXCO at the moment. There was a court injunction stopping the purported congress he claims produced him.”

Only the National Working Committee has the authority to suspend the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Ikpegbu said, adding that his ward must first appeal for his appearance. They would send out another invitation if he didn’t.

As an elder statesman, Wabara did not commit any crime by voicing his personal views regarding the governance of Abia State, the group said, questioning why those involved in anti-party activities in Abuja had not been expelled from the party.

Abraham Amah, the chairman of the Abia State PDP, had earlier on Tuesday said that Senator Adolphus Wabara had been suspended due to alleged anti-party activities.
