Benjamin Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, has expressed gratitude to US President Donald Trump for giving Israel the “tools” it needs to “defend itself.”
On Saturday, Trump gave the US military the order to lift a halt placed on Israel’s shipment of 2,000-pound bombs by former President Joe Biden.
“We released them. We released them today. And they will have them. They paid for them and they’ve been waiting for them for a long time.
“They have been in storage,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One.
Speaking on the development, Netanyahu in a post on X on Sunday, said: “Thank you President Trump for keeping your promise to give Israel the tools it needs to defend itself, to confront our common enemies and to secure a future of peace and prosperity.”
Trump has also received praise from Israel’s foreign minister, Gideon Saar, for “yet another display of leadership by releasing the crucial defense shipment to Israel.”
According to report, since October 2023, Israel and Hamas-led Palestinian militant organizations have been engaged in military conflict in the Gaza Strip.
It is the worst military conflict in the area since the Yom Kippur War in 1973 and the fifth war between Israel and Gaza since 2008.
