The Rivers State Women Association of Nigeria (RIVSWAN) has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to address what they described as the inappropriate public remarks of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, stating that his behavior is unbefitting of a federal official.
The association strongly criticized Wike for what they termed a baseless and malicious attack on Dame Judith Amaechi, the former First Lady of Rivers State.
Their response follows the minister’s appearance on a national television program, during which he claimed that the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) was paying Dame Amaechi N4 billion each month to train women from the Niger Delta.
In a formal statement, the group dismissed the allegations as entirely false, attributing them to animosity, misinformation, and a disturbing lack of discipline.
They urged Nigerians to ignore what they called a fabricated narrative driven by personal grievances and deliberate misinformation.
“The entire allegation is not only laughable but an embarrassment to public discourse. It reflects either a gross misunderstanding of the NDDC’s budgetary structure or a deliberate effort to smear the name of a respected woman of substance,” the statement said.
