WARNING: Coca-Cola is recalling Sprite, Fanta, and Coke because of toxic chlorate contamination. A large recall of well-known drinks, including Coke, Sprite, and Fanta, has been started by Coca-Cola’s European bottling unit after regular checks at their Ghent production facility revealed dangerously high levels of chlorate.

Products shipped since late November are subject to the recall, which affects six European nations: Belgium, the Netherlands, Britain, Germany, France, and Luxembourg.

Because excessive chlorate ingestion can reduce the blood’s ability to absorb oxygen and perhaps result in kidney failure, the pollution poses major health hazards. Children are particularly susceptible to long-term exposure, especially those who have iodine deficits.

Although the precise number of impacted beverages has not been made public, corporate representatives called it “considerable.”

Other brands with manufacturing codes ranging from 328 GE to 338 GE are also included in the recall, including Fuze Tea, Minute Maid, Nalu, Royal Bliss, and Tropico.

Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Belgium is collaborating with authorities in the impacted markets and has expressed regret for the occurrence. Customers are advised not to use these products and to return them for a refund to the store where they were purchased.

According to the corporation, the majority of the impacted products have already been taken off store shelves, and work is still being done to remove any remaining stock from the market.
