The governors who were elected on the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) platform have sworn not to comply with the federal government’s insinuation.

The governors said they would oppose such actions and stand firm in their commitment to good governance, accusing the federal government of using intimidation and exclusionary tactics.

The governors made the commitment at the 99th PDP National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting, which took place in Abuja on Tuesday.

Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State and chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, spoke to the audience and emphasized the difficulties the party and its members confront.

He claims that the administration of President Bola Tinubu has produced a special set of conditions characterized by challenges, subtly provocative actions, and changing political dynamics.

Mohammed revealed that a number of coalition negotiations and defections had affected the PDP, even affecting some of its members.

He did, however, stress that the party is still together and committed to its mission.

“Despite these pressures, our members remain steadfast and unwavering. There is no form of intimidation or persuasion that we, as elected governors and members, have not encountered. Yet, we remain resolute in our commitment,” Mohammed declared.

He reiterated that what distinguishes the PDP from other parties, which he characterized as divided and splintered, is its cohesiveness.

“Other parties have been fragmented, with factions emerging here and there. But it is undeniable that we stand together as one,” he said.

The governor of Bauchi also emphasized the party’s initiatives to stay visible and tackle important governance concerns through state-level gatherings and statements.

The PDP Governors Forum chairman also pointed to recent gatherings in Bauchi, Taraba, Oyo, Delta, Akwa Ibom and Plateau as proof of the party’s active participation.

“We have been conducting meetings across various states and issuing communiqués addressing critical governance issues. These efforts are aimed at maintaining our visibility and demonstrating that we are not yielding to the pressures around us,” Mohammed explained.

He praised the PDP leaders’ perseverance and commitment, calling the 99th NEC meeting a victory of democracy and sound governance over the challenges the country faces.
