In order to foster a favourable atmosphere and facilitate operations, the federal government has pledged to provide greater assistance to regional airline companies.
During the ministerial news briefing on President Bola Tinubu’s sectoral update, Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, made this promise while showing his master card.
According to the minister, in order for local airline carriers to compete with foreign airlines, the government would empower and support them all, just as it did with Air Peace.
He claimed that the government will also make it easier to purchase aeroplanes under a dry lease agreement because it was less expensive than a wet lease.
Keyamo confirmed that the country’s bilateral air service agreements, or BASA, would be reviewed by the government to favour local operators.
In keeping with the long-term global aspirational goal of net-zero carbon emissions in the aviation industry set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), he said the government was making deliberate and incremental efforts to adopt eco-friendly practices and green technologies.
